SR7008

“The performance with multichannel music was impressive, whether it was DVD-Audio or SACD, with well defined instruments and an impressive level of clarity. The Marantz was also surprisingly effective with two-channel music and certainly better than some of the other receivers we’ve reviewed. We found instruments and vocals were well reproduced, whilst the SR7008 managed to create a cohesive soundstage with excellent positioning and plenty of detail and clarity. There is no doubt that the greater subtlety of the Marantz results in a more musical experience than one would normally expect from an audio/video receiver.”

A recent reviewer said, “I’m no “audiophile”, so my street cred is limited to the other 99.9% of mere audio-mortals. This receiver rocks. Great power, extremely easy-to-use manual (albeit, downloadable only), all the features I would want/need and then some. I’m a boomer, so am more interested in basic functionality and quality than whiz-bang features I never use. This is a surprisingly neutral receiver coming from Japan, very balanced sound (not bright or shrill, neither muddy), with enough oomph to wow the neighbors. Though it’s definitely not entry-level, it’s very easy to set up if you just (a) read the manual before you start running wires, then (b) read it again and follow the directions as you go. Same with the Audyssey’s MultEQ XT32. Follow directions for excellent results. Video is what you’d expect from a newer product, which is to say, excellent. No complaints thus far.”

SR5008

A recent reviewer said, “Over the years I have built many home sound systems. My last one was a Carver amp and preamp mated to Klipsch Forte 2 speakers. When the amp failed on the right side, I was at a loss at where to turn. Checking different brands on the internet and comparing overall ratings, I picked the Marantz SR5008. The Marantz replaced both the Carver pieces and has brought sound quality back to my Klipsch speakers that I thought I had lost. I am very well satisfied with the new equipment. ”

NR1604

“Marantz has got everything just about right with this network-friendly, slinky AVR. If you don’t want a home cinema monster, but need a well-specified multichannel hub able to make the most of set-top boxes and Blu-ray – and savvy enough for file server and internet streaming – it’s well worth consideration. There’s equal lashings of common sense and pucker high-fidelity DNA on offer here. And if you doubt its prowess, shoot it out against any High Street all-in-one package. This non-Hulk will smash it.”

A recent reviewer said, “Splendidly pleased with set up and performance. A little worrisome with only 50W and 7.1, but does the job – I’m bi-amping Infiniti Crescendo floor speakers, instead of using a subwoofer, and still cleanly pushing a small pair of Yamaha surround speakers. Small cabinet size and no fan, but doesn’t seem to run particularly hot even at 40-50% output for >30min. and 30-40% output for several hours. A few exposed screws on the bottom/underneath – could be a handling hazard. Did not note any flex to back panel, even with new ‘stiff’ plugs. Still haven’t tried nearly everything! ”

A recent reviewer said, “First let me say that I never review anything . I have received good service from online retailers and never said a word. I had an 18 year old Marantz that died . I spent several weeks researching receivers. I seldom watch movies and listen mostly to music. I have pretty inadequate speakers . It is a wife issue. I almost did not buy since the last Marantz was 110 watts a channel. This receiver is in incredible. I am hearing music that I have never heard. ”

“The Panorama 2’s outward appearance, like virtually all of Bowers & Wilkins products, is a thing of beauty.”

Home Theater Review – May 2013

Combining simplicity in design and setup with stirring audio quality, the Panorama 2 soundbar, from top-tier speaker manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins, is a room-filling solution in a sleek, stylish package. Unlike surround-sound systems with multiple separate speakers, the Panorama 2 is a single unit—roughly 43 inches wide—that can live above or below your TV. Surround-sound effects come from bouncing digitally processed audio off peripheral walls.
